Level I Pedagogy Overview
9 am-11 am; Diane Geller, MME
This Kodály Kaleidoscope will showcase the scope of Kodály Level I Pedagogy training as developed by Katinka Dániel based on the Kodály-Ádám Hungarian model. Participants will be introduced to the Kodály philosophy of instilling a love of music in students through pedagogy, sequence, teaching strategies, and materials. The sequence of music elements taught in Pre-school to First Grade, from the beat to pentatone subsets and scale, "10 Steps to Reading and Writing", and the spiral of Prepare - Present - Practice, will be demonstrated through active music-making demonstrations, chants, songs, and games. Recommended for all elementary music teachers; non-music majors will also be successful in this course.
Presented materials*: Katinka Dániel: Kodály in Kindergarten; Kodály Approach Level I Method Book, Transparencies, Workbook I
*Presented materials are taken from required textbooks for the full three-week levels training. Seminar packets will include…
